Deacon: Wisdom. Stand up. Hear the Holy Gospel. Priest: Peace to you all. People: And to your spirit. Deacon: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (17:1-9) People: Glory to You Lord. Glory to You. Priest: Listen. Deacon: At that time, Jesus took only Peter and the brothers James and John with him up a high mountain. In front of them he was transfigured there. His face shone like the sun and his clothes dazzled like light. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with Jesus. Then Peter said to Jesus, 'Lord it is wonderful being here. If you want me to, I will set up three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah'. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud suddenly covered them with shadow. And suddenly a voice from the cloud said, 'This is my Son, my Loved One, my Favoured One. Pay attention to him.' The disciples were overcome with fear when they heard this, and fell on their faces. But Jesus came and touched them saying, 'Stand up. Do not fear'. And when they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus. Coming down from the mountain Jesus ordered them, 'Tell no one about what you have seen, until the Son of Man arises from the dead'. People: Glory to You Lord, Glory to You |
