Deacon: Wisdom! Arise! Hear the Holy Gospel!

Deacon:  A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (10:32-33, 10:37-38, 19:27-30)

People:  Glory to You Lord. Glory to You.

Priest:   Listen!

Deacon:

At that time Jesus said:

'If anyone announces to other people that they are my supporter, then I will announce to my Father in heaven that I am their supporter. But if anyone rejects me before other people, then I will reject them before my Father in heaven.

'If anyone prefers father or mother more than Me, then they are not worthy of Me. If anyone prefers son or daughter more than Me, then they are not worthy of Me. If anyone does not take up this cross and follow Me, then they are not worthy of Me.'

Later Peter said, 'Look, we've left everything and followed You. So what do we get?'

Jesus said to them, 'Truly I tell you, when everything is renewed, and the Son of Man sits on his throne of glory, you my supporters will sit on twelve thrones as judges of the twelve tribes of Israel.

'And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or land, for My name, will receive a hundred times more, and will also inherit eternal life.

'But the many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.'
