Deacon:  Wisdom! Arise! Hear the Holy Gospel!

Priest:   Peace to you all.

People:  And to your spirit.

Deacon:  A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint John(1:43-51)

People:  Glory to You Lord. Glory to You.

Priest:   Listen!

Deacon:

The next day, after he had decided to leave for Galilee, Jesus met Philip, and said, 'Follow me.'

Philip came from Bethsaida, the same town as Andrew and Peter.

Philip found Nathaniel and said to him, 'We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, the one the prophets wrote about. He is Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.'

'From Nazareth?' said Nathaniel. 'Can anything good come from that place?'

'Come and see,' replied Philip.

When Jesus saw Nathaniel coming, he said about him, 'Truly, there is an Israelite who is incapable of deception.'

'How do you know me?' asked Nathaniel.

Jesus said, 'Before Philip came to call you, I saw you under the fig tree.'

Nathaniel replied, 'Master. You are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel'.

Jesus answered, 'You believe this only because I said "I saw you under the fig tree". But you will see greater wonders than this'.

And then he added, 'I tell you most solemnly, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending over the Son of Man.'

People:Glory to You Lord, Glory to You
