His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH Appoints New Dean of Northern California

Beloved in Christ, the Archpriests, Priests and Deacons, and all of the Faithful of the Northern California Deanery:

 

Christ is born! Glorify Him! Greetings and blessings in the Name of our Incarnate Lord, Jesus.

 

On Saturday, December 13, 2008, we all awoke to the shocking news of the falling asleep in the Lord of our beloved Dean of Northern California, the Archpriest Richard Ballew. His passing was, without a doubt, a great loss not only for St. Athanasius and the Northern California Deanery, but for the entire Diocese. Taking over the Deanship during one of the darkest times in Northern California, Father Richard served the Deanery with great distinction and honor for the 10 years that he was the Dean.

 

The time has now come to appoint his successor to continue this Godly ministry as the Dean of Northern California. After much deliberation and prayer, I have decided to appoint the Archpriest Silas Ruark, Pastor of St. Timothy Church in Fairfield, California, as the new Dean effective January 1, 2009. Father Silas has shown great leadership in his parish and has served the Church to the best of his ability since I ordained him to the Holy Priesthood on November 17, 1996. I am confident that with his loving leadership, hard work and compassion the Northern California Deanery will continue to grow and flourish for the glory of God and His Holy Church.

 

Wishing all of you a blessed and Happy New Year, and assuring you of my constant love, prayers and support, I remain,
